Sure Champ Interns: Lauren Barker

Hey Sure Champ Fans!

I’m Lauren Barker and I am the Sure Champ Public Relations Intern for the summer. I’m from Monticello, Iowa, a small town in eastern Iowa where my family owns a small registered Angus herd, R&C Angus.

Lauren Barker Angus CattleI have been active in the agriculture industry since I was young. Right from the start, I had the itch to be in the show ring and couldn’t wait for my turn to show my cattle, horses and pigs. I became active in the Iowa Angus Association and attended multiple LEAD conferences and National Junior Angus shows, I just couldn’t get enough! All of these experiences helped strengthen my passion for agriculture and help me become the person I am today.

After high school, I choose to attend Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. From the start, I knew it was where I wanted to be because of the faculty and beautiful campus. At Iowa State I found a second home with my sorority, Alpha Delta Pi. Iowa State also allowed me to mix my passion for agriculture with my love of graphic design and writing by double majoring in agriculture communications and advertising with a minor in animal science.

Working for Sure Champ has always been a dream of mine and I am extremely excited for this opportunity. I look forward to seeing you all at the junior national shows and meeting all of you.

See you on the road!
Lauren Barker
