Shayne Myers is from northern California, but most of her summers are spent in the Sandhills of Nebraska on her uncle and grandfather’s cattle operation, Hoffman Ranch. In fact, her favorite memories have been spending the summer with the family and crew in the show barn. Family is extremely important to Shayne.

“I love to meet new people every year, build new relationships with them all and we all become family. Each and every day spent in there with them is memorable.”

Shayne credits her Grandpa, Denny Hoffman, and her uncle, Jason Hoffman, for all of her success. They have had a huge impact on her life and she can’t imagine what she would be doing without agriculture and cattle in her life.

“My grandfather worked on a ranch for many years before he decided to start his own. He founded Hoffman Ranch and it has taken off and flown ever since.”

Shayne started her show career in the Hereford ring, but has recently started showing Angus. In fact, one of Shayne’s wins that she takes the most pride in was with her very first Angus heifer. The heifer, Nikki, came from Silveira Bros. in California, and was handpicked by Shayne herself.

She also had a lot of success at the 2013 National Junior Angus Show in Kansas City, Mo, which was her first Angus Junior National Show. Shayne received Reserve Grand Champion Owned Heifer with her heifer, Bam Bam – who Shayne noted was pretty ornery – as well as two division champions and one second in class.

But, Shayne’s most memorable win to date was just recently at the 2015 National Western Stock Show. Sparkle, one of Shayne’s favorite heifers, was named the Reserve Grand Champion Heifer in the Open Show.

When asked which breed Shayne prefers though, she remains diplomatic.

“Herefords are what started the whole thing but Angus have stolen my heart, so I’m torn. I can’t pick a favorite!”

So what are Shayne’s keys to success? She believes in always putting your best foot forward and putting your all in everything you do.

Shayne also noted that her family has been feeding Sure Champ for nearly 30 years!

“I think it’s safe to say we haven’t had any show cattle in the last 20 years that haven’t had VitaFerm in them.”

We wish Shayne the best of luck with her future endeavors in the livestock industry as she attends Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. We have no doubt she will go far! We would also like to thank her and her family for their continued support of Sure Champ.
